Born into a family of musicians, Maria Tataru is a classical pianist, accompanist, and dedicated piano teacher here at South End Music School in Croydon.
Maria was awarded a prestigious fellowship at the Royal Academy of Music in London and was a Young Artist at the National Opera Studio. Following her studies at the Academy of Music Theatre and Fine Arts in her native Moldova, she went on to earn both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Piano Solo Performance from the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, graduating with Distinction.
Maria has performed across Europe as a piano soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist, including appearances at venues such as de Singel Blue Hall (Antwerp), Susie Sainsbury Theatre, the Royal Opera House, London Colosseum and the National Opera Studio as well as performing with Moldova’s National Philharmonic.
She is highly experienced in accompanying opera singers, instrumentalists, ballet classes, chamber ensembles, and ABRSM exam candidates.
At South End Music School, Maria brings a wealth of professional experience into her piano lessons, inspiring students of all ages and skill levels. Her lessons focus on building strong technique, musical expression, and performance confidence in a supportive and encouraging environment.
